Mashed Potatoes Recipes




There are many ways to make mashed potatoes. You can basically add anything you like to the potatoes and, in my opinion, it always turns out yummy.

In this article I would like to offer you several ways to prepare mashed potatoes that are our favorite at home.

Mashed potatoes is an amazing dish that goes along well with pork tenderloin.


Classic Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Place the potato chunks in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
  4. Add the milk and butter to the pot.
  5. Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy. You can use a potato masher, a ricer, or an electric mixer.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve hot.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes


Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 4 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Place the potato chunks and garlic cloves in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Drain the potatoes and garlic, and return them to the pot.
  4. Add the milk and butter to the pot.
  5. Mash the potatoes and garlic until smooth and creamy.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve hot.

Cheesy Mashed Potatoes


Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Herb Mashed Potatoes


Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley, chives, or thyme)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Place the potato chunks in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
  4. Add the milk and butter to the pot.

  6. Stir in the chopped herbs.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Serve hot.

Cottage Cheese Mashed Potatoes

This is our the most favorite way to cook our potatoes. Cottage cheese adds a creamy texture to this dish that we all like.


Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Place the potato chunks in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
  4. Add the cottage cheese, milk, and butter to the pot.
  5. Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy. The cottage cheese will add a slightly chunky texture, which is part of its charm.
  6. If desired, stir in the garlic powder for extra flavor.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Garnish with fresh chives before serving.
