Citrus and Tea Tree Oil Foot Soak

Foot soaks are so underrated, unfortunately. I guess people find them too messy and requiring too much preparation.

However, once you put a bit of work in preparing the foot soak your feet will love you forever.

Tea Tree Oil For Feet

Tea tree oil has unique anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

It is used to disinfect minor cuts and wounds.

Also, tea tree oil has been shown to help with minor cases of nail fungus and athlete feet.

Adding tea tree oil to feet care products can control unpleasant feet odor.

Baking Soda For Feet

Soaking feet in baking soda solution might look weird at first site. Why would you do that?

Let me tell you – baking soda is amazing for the removal of dead skin from the feet.

Also, baking soda has anti-bacterial properties as well. It will help to eliminate odor causing bacteria.

Keep in mind that using large amount of baking soda could disrupt skin’s natural pH balance and cause irritation. So, please, follow the recipe and do not add extra spoons to your foot soak.

Citrus For Feet

In this recipe you will be using whole pieces of citrus fruit. Citrus fruit have anti-bacterial properties as well; using citrus will help to disinfect and deodorize your feet.

Acid from citrus will help to remove dead skin

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons of any liquid oil (almond, grapeseed, jojoba, sesame etc)

5 drops of tea tree essential oil

3 liters (around 1 gallon) of warm water

1/4 cup of baking soda

2 or 3 citruses, sliced (orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit etc).

Basin to soak your feet in.

Directions:

  • Pour the warm water into a large basin;
  • Add baking soda and stir well to dissolve it;
  • Add liquid oil and stir well;
  • Add tea tree oil, stir well;
  • Add citrus slices.

How To Use Foot Soak

Foot soak is a spa-like treatment at home. Turn your favorite music on, lite some candles, open a book.

Take a seat and soak your feet for 10-15 minutes. You do not have to rinse the solution off.

Dry your feet and apply foot cream for prolonged moisturizing effect.
