I love overnight sleeping masks and use one about 2 times a week.

I have about 4 of them right now that I use and a long list of those that I really want to try.  The problem with sleeping masks is that because you do not use them daily, they last a very long time.  Sometimes it seems too long, but oh, well.

I wrote a quite extensive post on sleeping masks and how they are different from night cream and why sleeping masks should only be used one or two times a week.  Please, follow this link to read a full post.

You might read on some forums that people use sleeping masks daily and enjoy the results, however, I would really ask you not to exceed the use more than two times a week.  Otherwise, your skin will become used to very powerful and active ingredients and won’t respond to other less active skincare.  And with over time as you age, it will be extremely hard for you to find appropriate skincare that will fight signs of aging as your skin became accustomed to very strong ingredients.  It is like taking steroid – a very powerful medication – without any medical need for an extensive period of time, you will be overmedicating your body with harmful results.

In this post I would like to review two amazing sleeping masks by Holika Holika: Red Wine Therapy sleeping mask and White Wine Therapy Sleeping Mask.

I decided to buy Holika Holika Red Wine sleeping mask after reading numerous positive reviews.  While looking for a product, I saw that company makes White Wine mask and decided to buy both for comparison.

I must tell you that both masks sold me right upon arrival on their unique packaging.  Each mask looks as if it is packed in a mini cute wine barrel.

Each mask comes with a small spatula thus you do not need to worry about introducing extra bacteria and unwanted oils from your fingers into the mask.

HOLIKA HOLIKA  Wine Therapy Sleeping Mask Review | Red Wine

This mask looks dark red while in the barrel, however, it is real colour is light clear pink. It has a “JELL-O” like consistency.  If you are using provided spatula you won’t have any problems scooping mask out.  You do not need much of a product to cover your face, neck and chest.  For a face a pea size would be enough.

I really enjoyed the smell.  Some people say it smells like red wine, others argue that is smells just like a regular grape juice.  In any event, this mask has nice, refreshing, juicy smell that is very enjoyable (I am very sensitive to smells and cannot stand perfume-like odours).

Claims: this mask is “anti-wrinkle sleeping pack that makes your skin smooth and resilient with shape memory moisture membrane of red wine”. Besides its anti-wrinkle properties, it smooths, nourishes and moisturizes the skin.

How to use:
Clean your skin using double cleansing method
Balance your skin with toner.
Follow with your essence (serum) of choice.
Spread mask over your face, neck and chest and gently tap to absorb.
Leave on overnight.
Wash off in the morning with warm water.
Follow with your usual daily skin care routine.

Impression: I love it! After applying to skin, mask feels a bit sticky for about 10-15 minutes and eventually this sticky feeling goes away. Thus I would advise applying this mask about 30 minutes before actually going to bed.

Skin feels baby soft in the morning, looks visibly brighter, and fresh. As for wrinkles, as with any anti-wrinkle product, there are no miracles and you won’t wake up in the morning wrinkle free.

I would definitely continue using this mask and would recommend it to my friends.

HOLIKA HOLIKA Wine Therapy Sleeping Mask Review | White Wine

This mask looks like white wine in a bottle-green coloured barrel. It also has a JELL-O like consistency and clear in colour.

The smell is very fresh, fruity and smells like white grape juice. It is very lovely and yummy (too bad you cannot eat this mask lol).

Claims: “whitening sleeping pack that makes your skin moist and bright with water drop moisture membrane of white wine”.

What is the difference between the two masks?

The differences between two masks as per manufacturer are the following:

Red Wine mask has anti-wrinkle and resiliency properties.

White Wine mask has whitening, brightening and moisturizing properties.

To be honest, I do not really see any difference between the two based on my own experience. In my opinion they both do pretty much the same: nourish, moisturize, brighten and smooth the skin. They both smell awesome, however, if I really had to chose, I would pick White Wine mask over the Red Wine mask for the smell only. Otherwise, you might as well just pick any one of them and enjoy the results.

Price range varies depending on a seller. I purchased mine of eBay. I also saw this product on Amazon at a higher price. So, please, shop around and read reviews for each seller before placing an order.

Follow the link to explore options on eBay.

Enjoy and stay beautiful as always.

Please, share your experience with sleeping masks and which one is your favourite. Thank you!!!
